Meet a Hamburg ACT Tutor: Sheila P.
Sheila P. was born in Oslo, Norway, and lived there for the first twelve years of her life until her father was offered an exciting job opportunity in Toronto. An advanced reader from an early age, Sheila loved books and hoped to become a professional editor and copywriter. She knew such an important position would start with obtaining the best undergraduate education possible, so Sheila participated in a classroom-style group ACT prep course. Her hard work was rewarded with an impressively high test score, and Sheila chose to attend the University of Toronto, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in English. She worked as a tutor in her university's learning center for five semesters and loved connecting with students who didn't find mastering grammatical rules and writing essays as enjoyable as she did. She then completed a master's degree in education at Yale University before accepting a position with a well-known publishing house.
When Sheila's husband accepted a new job in Hamburg, she was excited to relocate for a new adventure. In addition to continuing her editorial and copywriting work, Sheila also joined the team at Manhattan Review. Students regularly praise her supportive demeanor and endless patience, filling her courses almost as soon as they are announced. When she isn't guiding future college students to their own test-taking success, Sheila can be found visiting local bookstores and working on her first novel.
