Meet a New York ACT Tutor: Shannon L.

Shannon L. was born in Las Vegas and fell in love with writing at a young age. She enjoyed creating stories and hoped to one day work as a professional editor. She knew such an important position would start with obtaining the best undergraduate education possible, so she worked very hard in high school, achieving high grades and graduating as salutatorian. She also participated in a classroom-style ACT prep course, and her hard work was rewarded with a very high score. Shannon chose to attend the University of Chicago, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in English and worked for five semesters as an English and language arts tutor. She then completed a master's degree in education at Northwestern University before moving to New York and accepting a position with an established publishing house.

Shannon loved living in New York and while she was happy in her editorial position, she soon found that she missed the sense of satisfaction she'd experienced when working directly with students. Wanting to help students prepare for their own college successes, Shannon soon joined the team at Manhattan Review as an instructor, and students regularly praise her supportiveness and patience, appreciating her impressive writing and grammar skills. When she isn't guiding future college students to their own test-taking success, Shannon can be found browsing local bookstores and working on her first screenplay.
