Meet a Hamburg TOEFL Tutor: Alison G.

Alison G. has always loved languages. Originally from Zagreb, she moved to the United States to attend college, and she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in linguistics. During her undergraduate program, she worked as a tutor in her school's learning center and enjoyed helping others master information that came easily to her. She then obtained a master's degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a TESOL certificate. Shortly after graduating, she was hired as a translator by an international tech company in Hamburg. Alison speaks four languages, including German, and she was happy to have the chance to help people communicate better in a corporate environment.

While Alison enjoyed her work, she also wanted to support others seeking to obtain their own professional and academic successes, and she knew the importance of a quality education. When she learned Manhattan Review had an office in Hamburg, she contacted us about helping students prepare for the TOEFL and other standardized tests assessing one's knowledge of English. We were thrilled to welcome Alison to the team, and her classroom-style prep courses fill up almost as soon as they are announced. Her students appreciate her hands-on experience in the field, her multi-lingual abilities, and her strong academic knowledge. When she isn't guiding future college students to their own TOEFL success, Alison enjoys traveling throughout Europe and watching documentaries shot by her film-maker wife.
